What’s next after graduation?

Usually, all the hard work and sleepless nights fade away like dew drops when we see ourselves walking along the aisle in the center of the hall wearing our toga. Graduation ceremony has always been very overwhelming and as fulfilling as one can think. I never imagine that I will be pursuing my master’s degree immediately after I had my bachelor’s degree. Due to so much pampering, I remember I was 20 years old when I graduated from college, I never think I will be able to handle a career oriented life so I decided to go back to school again, although, there’s another big aspect that influenced my decision to take up graduate school.

During my college graduation, everyone was teary eyed crying over possible life without friends whom we’ve grown so acquainted with. There were so many text messages from each other reminding how one touches everybody’s life. But since there’s this sweet offer from an institution that will provide us with financial assistance most of us were able to reunite again. Well anyway, 2 years passed and now the graduation day is approaching, we can already feel the tension in the air. Some of us aren’t done with the thesis or haven’t defended there thesis but fortunately most of us were able to meet the deadline.

Graduation Day. It was not as emotional as before because I keep on thinking what I should do after I walk pass the gates of my school. I have sent a million resumes to different companies yet none of them replied. I grew anxious as I wait. I grew impatient and scared at the same time. You and your friends console each other that it will soon come. It will come at the perfect time. But then friends slowly move away because there opportunity has arrived but yours is still nowhere to be found. I send a few thousand of resumes again hoping somebody might notice my application. Then the day came, I received a text message informing me that I am scheduled for an exam which I happen to pass so as the HR interview. Unfortunately, during my final interview which comprises of lots of people (5 people) I failed. I failed for an unknown reason. It has been my habit to self assess whenever I can to check whether I did my best or not. I know the interview went well, not that I’m being boastful or something, I just know the interview went smoothly and If ever Id be graded for it I’m sure I’m going to received grades with flying colors. So it was frustrating, it was painful. It was tough. I cried as if there’s no tomorrow. I went from 90% to 0% self confidence. I was unsure of myself for a while.

But fate never stop to get its way, now I’m in a company, offering more than the previous job I wanted has to offer.

So I say things come in perfect time. It may be painful along the way and it may take time but once you have it you’ll soon fine good about it. As what my sister told me, if things become unpleasant just remember, the best is yet to come…
